Westgate Health Board

Our Board members draw on a wealth of experience from diverse backgrounds. They are dedicated individuals, community minded and extremely focused on guiding the evolution and running of our service to deliver excellent medical services that fully meets the needs of our community.

This is borne out through long term board members consistently having provided a steady hand in the building of a strong service with sound business fundamentals. All complimented by newly joined board members bringing innovative thinking and support to our Co-Operative.

Jenny Morris - Chair 

I have watched from a distance the process by which the Co-op came into being in response to the needs of the local community all those years ago and have highly valued the care provided to our family.

As a registered nurse, I have had leadership and strategic roles within acute healthcare, Residential Aged Care and most recently as a consultant specializing in Workforce Planning and Workplace Culture. I am committed to the values and practicalities of the Co-op model and welcome the opportunity to "give back". 

Allison Crunden - Deputy Chair

Allison has lived in Melbourne’s west for the past 20 years.

Allison has a background in Occupational Therapy and OHS. She is currently employed as a People & Corporate Manager and is responsible for leading Human Resource Management, Quality and Corporate Services.

Allison has also served on two committees on a voluntary basis; Angliss Childcare Centre (2 years) and Hyde Street Youth Band (4 years and currently). She has also worked for 5 years as a volunteer for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre including one year as their OHS Manager. 

Allison is an excellent communicator with a strong ability to develop rapport with a wide range of people. She has strong skills in the development of systems and processes and facilitating groups and project teams.

Yolande Powrie - Secretary

Yolande has lived in South Kingsville for the past 15 years, and is passionate about the Co-Op’s role in providing access to quality health care for all members of our community.

Yolande is an experienced and considered Senior Leader with over 19 years' experience in the Finance Industry, across a range of disciplines including Business Leadership, Product Management, Strategy and Government and Regulatory affairs, and more recently developing these capabilities for businesses in her own Consultancy. Yolande has a reputation for values-led decision making, and is passionate about people - particularly the importance of leaders and Boards setting cultural tone ‘from the top’ .

Yolande holds a Bachelor of Social Science, is a Certified Practitioner and Coach in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Jason Faranda - Treasurer

Jason's career has seen him be part of and lead senior finance teams with organisations that cover several industries including the medical industry. Jason's past and current roles have included responsibility for financial reporting, internal controls, cash management and team leadership.

Jason has previously spent 5 years on the board for a local childcare centre as treasurer, reporting regularly to local council and 2 years as a volunteer board member for local sporting clubs.

Dr Clare Roczniok - Director

Clare has been a GP for 30 years. She has had a long association with the West since her first job at Western General Hospital in 1984. She has worked in many different settings including Community Health, Indigenous health, refugee health, public hospitals, youth outreach, detox facilities and private practice.

Ross Williamson - Director

Ross has significant Board experience, having held nurmerous Board Director roles or worked directly for a Board since 1996, as follows:

1992-1996: State Swimming Centre Board (Director);

1996-2001: Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre board (Secretary);

2002-2004: Geelong Golf Club Committee (EO);

2004-2010 Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club & Body Corporate Association (EO);

2012-2017: South Melbourne Market Committee (EO); and

Currently: Western Region Football League Board (Director).

Ross has had a long and varied association with volunteer committees and understands the importance of cohesive boards and the need for a clear vision to guide management.

Ross’ strengths are the ability to work cooperatively, treat people with respect, maintain relationships in tense situations and make considered decisions based on evidence. 

Sharon Scott - Director

I have lived in this community all my life and have been a member of the Westgate Health Co-op for about 30 years. I value the Co-op because its structure provides high quality primary health care (bulk billing) to all its members. As a member led organisation, I believe each member has an opportunity to contribute to the Co-op’s future. Professionally, I work locally as a Myotherapist, was a founding member of the Myotherapy Association of Victoria (now Australia). I continually update my knowledge both my profession and my responsibilities as a business owner.

David Jones - Director

I have had over 40 years experience of living and working in the Western Region of Melbourne and I have a strong commitment to the community in this area. I worked for 20 years as a Secondary teacher of Science and Maths in 2 local government schools and for 26 years as a lecturer and Coordinator of Secondary Pre-Service Teaching courses at Victoria University. I have been a School Council member and treasurer of 3 local government Secondary schools over a period of 30 years and an active member of the Australian Education Union and the National Tertiary Education Union. I have a strong interest in the areas of community, environmental and mental health and I am passionate about protecting, conserving and rehabilitating our natural environment and currently perform as a musician in a number of bands.

Our Board

Our Co-Operative is governed by  a Board of dedicated volunteers that bring a wealth of commercial, not-for-profit and business skills, expertise and knowledge. It ensures we are excellent in all the services we bring to our community.
